2009 Grüner Veltliner: Sold Out
2009 is an historical vintage for Lark Hill – we are proud to release Australia’s first Grüner Veltliner. This wine has already had an excellent debut, being awarded a silver medal and 2nd in class at the 2009 Organic Wine Show. We picked a tiny crop from our first planted “daughter” vines and were able to fill three French barriques for a wild ferment and short maturation on lees before bottling for early release this spring. The wine is very exciting for us; we were agog to see how Austria’s signature variety expressed itself here at Lark Hill, and the results are startlingly true to variety, with green melon, black fig, and spice, interwoven with clear acidity and underlying power. With such a small amount, we can only offer you a maximum of 12 bottles, and this will be on a first-come first-served basis.

"At long last a Gruner Veltliner to write about. In Austria it is planted in precisely the same regions as Riesling, so it was doubly pleasing it should appear in the Canberra District. This wine is strongly varietal, with a waft of white pepper on the bouquet adding complexity to the fig & ripe pear fruit; best of all is the texture and mouthfeel - 94 points"
